If your shirt does not fit, please do not mail it back

Most of what we believe ends up on a shirt eventually. But there is one belief we have been practicing for two years without ever saying it out loud, and it lives in the least romantic place in the whole company: our exchange policy. We call it the Mindful Garden Path, and if you have ever written to us about a size, you have already been walked down it.
If a shirt arrives and the size or the color is not what you hoped, write to us. We print you a new one. We do not ask for the old one back. No box, no packing tape, no standing in line at the post office, no waiting on an inspection before anything can happen; we sort out the particulars with you in the reply, one person to one person. And we ask you to keep the first shirt: wear it with your hands in the soil, hand it to a fellow plant lover, or give it to a charity down the road. If the mistake was ours rather than a change of mind, we make it right, and you choose between a replacement and a refund.
The reason is not generosity, it is arithmetic. Shipping a shirt back across the country so it can be inspected, repackaged, and very often thrown away costs fuel, cardboard, and everyone's afternoon, and it leaves the world slightly worse than it found it. A garden teaches you that the tidy-looking answer and the good answer are frequently not the same answer. So we picked the good one, and we stopped mentioning it, which in hindsight was silly. Now you know. Nothing for you to do with this today except keep it in your back pocket.
Naturally Inspired,
Tim & Derylin
P.S. This applies to a shirt you bought last week and a shirt you bought last year. Just reply to any email from us and a real person named Tim or Derylin will read it.
